The HGV driving test now consists of 2 parts the CPC Module 3A (HGV reverse & uncoupling) & the CPC Module 3B (on-road) practical driving test. Craig Baker Driver Training is a DVSA-approved 3A exam centre we have an approved reversing area in Charnock Richard, Chorley, where we carry out all training and testing. If you book an LGV training course with Craig Baker Driver Training the 3A training and test will be included in your course price. If you would like to come along just for a 3A reversing test we can also accommodate this.
This test consists of an S-shaped reverse into a loading bay and stopping with the rear of the vehicle within a specific location to represent revering onto a loading bay
This test consists of the same S-shaped reverse as a category C test but also includes an uncoupling and recoupling of the trailer exercise
There are two categories of tests: category CE, which takes around 35 minutes, and category C, which takes around 10 minutes
Class 2 (cat C) reversing is relatively easy once you get used to the width and length of the vehicle. Class 1 (cat CE) can be a bit more challenging and does include the uncoupling exercise but don't worry our professional instructors will guide you through the process every step of the way in a safe and controlled environment. We usually do all of our module 3A maneuvers on the first day/s of training before we do any on-road training.
