The Category C 3A test consists of an S-shaped reverse into a loading bay. You must stop with the rear of the vehicle within a specific location, simulating reversing onto a loading bay.

What is Involved in a Category CE 3A Test?

The Category CE 3A test includes the same S-shaped reverse as the Category C test but also involves an uncoupling and recoupling of the trailer exercise.

What is the Duration of a Module 3A Test?

There are two categories of tests:

• Category CE: Takes around 35 minutes.
• Category C: Takes around 10 minutes.

How Difficult is it to Reverse an HGV?

Reversing a Class 2 (Category C) HGV is relatively easy once you get used to the width and length of the vehicle. Reversing a Class 1 (Category CE) HGV can be a bit more challenging and includes the uncoupling exercise. However, our professional instructors will guide you through the process every step of the way in a safe and controlled environment. Typically, we conduct all of our Module 3A manoeuvres on the first day(s) of training before any on-road training.
