A Class 1 driving licence allows you to drive a category (C+E), articulated lorry or drawbar vehicle in access to 7,500kg with a trailer, up to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 44 tonnes. Whereas a Class 2 driving licence allows you to drive a rigid vehicle over 7,500kg but limits you to only using a small trailer up to 750kg.
