A C1 license allows you to drive a vehicle weighing over 3500 kilograms but not more than 7500 kilograms. If you passed your car test before 1997, you will be entitled to what is known as "grandfather's rights" which allows you to drive this vehicle without taking a test. Those who passed after that date will need to pass the C1 driving test before driving a vehicle over 3500 kilograms.
