As long as you have a C1 licence, you will be able to drive a vehicle that weighs over 3500 kilograms but not more than 7500 kilograms. If you passed your car test before 1997, you will be entitled to what is known as "grandfather's rights" which allows you to drive this vehicle without taking a test. Drivers who passed after that date will have to pass the C1 licence driving test before driving a vehicle larger than 3500 kilograms.
