C1 Ambulance Driver Training Stafford
Are you a trainee paramedic in Stafford and need to gain a C1 licence as part of your training?
What licence do I need to drive an ambulance in Stafford?
As a trainee paramedic, you may be seeking ambulance driver training, but you may not know that the gross weight of an ambulance usually exceeds 3.5 tons, meaning a standard license is insufficient. To drive an ambulance, you’ll need to hold an HGV 7.5-ton license. This involves obtaining an HGV C1 license, and we’ll explain the full process for you below.
D4 Drivers Medical
In order to be permitted to drive an ambulance, you must undergo a medical examination in order to ensure that you are physically fit and proper to drive a HGV C1 vehicle as per the DVLA's regulations. An eye examination and a general physical examination must be included in this medical. The results of these tests are then sent off to the DVLA for approval. Upon approval, the driver can drive an ambulance.
Theory Test & Hazard Perception
The next step is to prepare for the C1 HGV theory test and the hazard perception test. All study materials will be provided by Craig Baker Driver Training. We can also provide theory test preparation lessons if you need them.
Practical C1 Ambulance Driving Test
Following that, you will start to prepare for your 3A practical reversing test with our professional instructor. Our instructor will show you how to reverse and prepare you for your 3B practical on-road test after that. C1 driving licenses are awarded upon successful completion of the 3B practical on-road test. With your license in hand, you can begin driving on your own.
Once you have passed the 3B test you will be fully qualified to drive ambulances up to 7.5ton
